Bridging the gap: Connecting local response and patient movement with healthcare partners

In this session, we will share several real-life incidents and lessons learned that can help bridge the gap between emergency management, public health, and healthcare partners. This discussion will provide information on how we connect with various response agencies and healthcare partners, illustrated through patient movement, family reunification, and situational awareness. This session will create a space for ongoing learnings and discussions from how we connect to improve response.

About the Presenters

Elya Baltazar works with the Northwest Healthcare Response Network as the District Manager and Northwest District Coordinator. In her role with the healthcare coalition, she works to build partnerships across the region, and alongside the District team, ensure district specific planning, training and exercises are implemented in support of coalition partners. She also supports the development of comprehensive training and exercise activities throughout NWHRN’s service area. She worked in various levels of medical response as an EMT for many years before utilizing her BA in Disaster and Emergency Management for the past 10 years to support disaster preparedness and response.
