The Weather of Washington State: Outlook for the Upcoming Winter and Projections for Future Decades

This presentation will feature weather predictions for the Pacific Northwest during the upcoming winter of 2022-23. This winter will likely represent the third in a row with La Nina conditions in the tropical Pacific – the implications will be explored.  The projections for phenomena such as heat waves and atmospheric rivers in future decades will also be discussed.

Nick Bond is a principal research scientist with the Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean and Ecosystem Studies (CICOES) of the University of Washington (UW). He is the climatologist for the state of Washington, and proud to be a weather geek. He wishes the Pacific Northwest experienced colder winters.
